The skipper of the National Team for the Black Stars, Dede Ayew, is as of now making waves on Twitter, not out of celebration, but out of frustration and anger on the part of Ghanaians, after he failed to convert a penalty awarded to Ghana in the much anticipated match against Uruguay in the ongoing 2022 World Cup tournament.
One of the most unpleasant, yet most anticipated matches was the match between Ghana and Uruguay. Many individuals had the assessment that the match was a match of vengeance against Uruguay.
In the first half, Ghana was given a penalty which was played by the captain of the squad, Dede Ayew. Notwithstanding, he denied Ghanaians the chance to have some sense of consolation, by softly kicking the ball into the hands of the Uruguayan keeper, hence, failing to score the penalty.
This similar repetition of history, has made social media users take a stroll down memory lane, to the moment when former Black Stars captain, Asamoh Gyan, lost a penalty against the same contenders 12 years back, during a match between Ghana and Uruguay.
Take a look at the reactions of some Ghanaians after captain Andre Ayew lost the opportunity of giving the Black Stars a fighting chance against their greatest football nemesis in history…
