#AHOFEST’22: Country folks pledge to support Anaji Community Centre.

Yesterday, August 23, 2022 being the climaxing day for the 2022 edition of the Anaji Homecoming Festival, Country folks pledged to support Anaji Community Centre which will serve many purpose when completed.

Anaji is a community which is found in the Kwesimintsim Constituency in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of Ghana. They celebrate the Kundum festival. They are also under the Sekondi Traditional Council. Over two decades, after the Passing on of the Omanhene of Sekondi, His Royal Majesty, Nana Awua Duku, all the sub chiefs who have their stools in the Sekondi Traditional Area have not been active celebrating their rich traditional festival.

Anaji which also belong to the Sekondi Traditional Area then had a plan to bring a Homecoming festival to unite it residents and all the neighbouring communities. So with the help of The chief of Anaji, Nana Ekra Kojo (IV), who is also a Standing Committee Member of the Sekondi Traditional Council and His Elders came out with a soothing plan to celebrate AHOFEST as tool for enhancing the culture of the Anaji Community. The maiden edition was held in the year 2019 but because of the outbreak of the global pandemic, the two successive years, thus 2020 and 2021 yielded no results.

The theme for this year was, Uniting Anaji through our culture for development with a projecting target of GHS 400,000.00 in aid of an Ultra- Modern Community Center Complex. People from all walks of life including Businessmen and Women, Church owners, and people who operate their businesses on the Anaji environs came and gave bountifully to support the project of the community.

In attendance of the event was the Municipal Chief Executive for Effia- Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA), Mr. Kojo Acquah, Presiding Member for EKMA, Hon. John Davis, Representatives for government officials, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Health Service, The Ghana Ambulance Service, and others.

During the appeal for funds, some donated colossal amount of money, one can say, it was well to do of them. Community folks also donated all in support of the great vision of the Chief and His committee members for the festival. Several speeches were made at the durbar and one said, It is our wish that, the Ultra Modern Community Centre Complex will be ready on time to serve it purpose because Anaji gradually expanding it width to neighbouring towns across the length and breadth of this country.

All were assured of its purpose and all countrymen and women were taken into a trance to see the current oversight of the project. Currently, the project is progressing steadily and the vision will be brought into reality soon.
