American singer Usher visits Chorkor, Accra ahead of Global Citizen Festival

American musician Usher visits Chorkor (Ghana) ahead of his performance at the Global Citizen Festival on September 24, 2022.

American singer Usher visits Chorkor: The R&B musician appears to be enjoying his stay in the West African country, as seen by a visit to Accra’s Chorkor village.

Usher was photographed touring a basic school in Ghana’s capital alongside artist SZA, who is also scheduled to perform at the Global Citizen Festival.

The students who met up with Usher couldn’t hide their excitement as they interacted with the star and also took turns in taking some photographs with the ‘U Remind Me’ hitmaker.

“Today, the Global Citizen Festival Artiste Usher and Sza visited BASICS International and toured the Chorkor community. BASICS International is an education-focused NGO in Chokor, Accra, engaged in making education and childcare accessible in vulnerable communities. The organisation is also one of Global Citizen’s regional response partners for the End Extreme Poverty NOW campaign for Global Citizen Festival: Accra,” the Tourism Authority wrote.

On Saturday, September 24, 2022, the 10th Global Citizen Festival will return to call on world leaders and large corporations to take immediate action for girls, the planet, and to eliminate extreme poverty NOW.

The Global Citizen Festival will feature performances by Sarkodie, TEMS, Neil Young with Crazy Horse, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, Band of Horses, and K’Naan.

The 2022 Global Citizen Festival will be televised globally from two stages in international cultural capitals: New York City’s Central Park, presented by Citi and Cisco, and Accra, Ghana’s Black Star Square, presented by Harith General Partners.

It will be hosted by award-winning actor, playwright, and activist Danai Gurira. Other presenters joining her include Berla Mundi, Joselyn Dumas, Michaela Coel, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Sabrina Dhowre Elba.
