Lionel Messi, a forward for Paris Saint-Germain, is expected to make a shock transfer to Inter Miami.

The MLS team is sure that Lionel Messi will formally switch teams as a free agent and become the highest-paid athlete in US soccer history. The 35-year-old, whose salary is reportedly around £1.2 million per week, would forego compensation at Inter, a team that is co-owned by former Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham.

He would, however, earn significantly more than any other player in American history.

Messi owns a property in Miami and is rumored to visit frequently on vacation.

The club is already looking for players who will fit Messi’s playing style, and former Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez and Cesc Fabregas are two names they are considering. Another former United player who currently manages Inter Miami is Phil Neville, who recently extended his contract.

In June 2023, Messi’s current contract with PSG will expire.
