Sacks Customs Boss

Nana Akufo Addo sacks customs boss and Ghanaians are debating over it online.

The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo sacks customs boss and many Ghanaians think this is one of the toughest decision the president has made this year.

Nana Akufo Addo freed the Commissioner from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd) of his situation on the 29th day of August 2022.

This follows the termination of his administration agreement as Commissioner (Customs Division) of the Ghana Revenue Authority on October 13, 2021.

According to a letter dated August 26th, 2022, and signed by Nana Asante Bediatuo, Secretary to the President, “the President of the Republic has coordinated that effective Friday, August 26th, 2022, you hand over your obligations and office to the acting Deputy Commissioner (Preventive Service), Mr. Seidu Iddrisu Iddisah, who will go about as the Commissioner (Customs Division) following the President’s considerable arrangement.”

The President thanked him for his assistance to the State and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Col. Damoah has recently been in the news after a Special Prosecutor’s report implicated the Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority in defilement-related actions, including Labianca Company Limited.

The OSP recovered GH1.074 million from a company owned by a member of the Council of State, Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh.

The funds were recovered as a setack of income arising from the issuing of the illegal traditions advance, which was intended to be obligations paid to the state following the importation of frozen food kinds.

Following the study, some anti-corruption groups demanded punishment against the Commissioner.

Colonel Kwadwo Damoah has described calls for sanctions against him for the report implicating his office in defilement-related activities as unjustified.
