With his latest remarks, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) , the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) vice presidential candidate, has sparked controversy once more and sparked a lot of debate in Ghana.
The man known as NAPO recently delivered a speech in which he directly attacked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its projected 24-hour economic plan. Openly mocking the idea, he questioned its viability and implied that it went against the laws of nature.
In a video circulating online, NAPO sarcastically remarked, “There is no country in the world that operates 24 hours; even God, who created the world, rests at night.” Though made in jest, his comment highlighted his scepticism about the NDC’s ambitious plan.
Even God, the universe’s creator, takes a nap at night, as NAPO pointed out, suggesting that the NDC’s idea of a 24/7 economy is ill-advised and impractical.
He said that the plan was a poor policy that disregarded life’s inherent rhythms. But the NDC takes a different stance. In their 24-hour economy idea, three shifts of continuous company operations are envisioned.
They contend that this strategy would boost output, add to the number of jobs available, and raise earnings for workers in a variety of industries. Though the NDC expresses optimism, NAPO is not persuaded. Reiterating his position, he said, “No country in the world operates 24 hours,” implying that the NDC’s strategy is out of step with the reality of the world economy.
