The Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko -Mensah, says Ghana could be on the way to prosperity if the mining sector is well-managed to increase mineral resource production.
Speaking at this year’s Ghana Mining Expo in Takoradi, the Minister called for the doubling of production in gold.
This, he believes would move the country out of poverty, by creating employment opportunities and contributing to national development.
The 2023 Ghana Mining Expo is a solution-oriented platform to discuss and address critical issues surrounding mineral resource exploitation in Ghana and around the globe.
He said, one of the prime aims of the Expo is to formulate sustainable development strategies and to help in bringing relevant global and local experts to discuss the pathways to sustainable resource development and the well-being of mining communities in society.
On his part, the Minister in Charge of Lands and Mineral Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor affirms the government’s commitment to work with the private sector in adopting strategies to exploit these resources and transform mining as a tool for change in industrialization.
