Galatasaray officials charged Fenerbahçe manager José Mourinho with ass@ulting their head coach Okan Buruk through physical violence during a Turkish Cup quarter-final clash with fierce rival teams.

The managers interacted with officiating officials in the centre circle post-final whistle when the incident occurred at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

In an interview, Metin Ozturk, vice president of Galatasaray, explained that Mourinho came up behind Buruk and pinched his nose, which led the Galatasaray manager to drop to the ground while holding his face.

“The head coaches from both teams, together with our manager Okan, delivered congratulations to the match referees. The manager continued to speak first and then assault our manager while he did so,” Ozturk reported.

The behavior he displayed would be indiscernible anywhere else on the planet, according to him.

Victor Osimhen delivered both scoring shots that led Galatasaray to a tense victory against Trabzonspor by a final score of 2-1. Meanwhile, Buruk downplayed the conflict by giving a response during his interview session after the game.

He stated that there was nothing between them as Mourinho reached behind him to squeeze his nose. He considered it a “slight scratch.”

“The behaviour of managers needs to be professional during all crucial situations. The incident should not be overstated, but Mourinho made a poor choice with his action,” he added.

Meanwhile, the two teams have maintained rising tensions throughout a lengthy period of unresolved disputes which began between the clubs in the past.

A third outbreak of bitter hostilities between these teams took place following another severe clash that happened during the current season.

Galatasaray took criminal action against Mourinho after their Turkish Super Lig draw ended without goals in February because they accused him of using “racist statements.”

To that effect, the Turkish Football Federation punished Mourinho with a four-game suspension and a monetary fine of £35,194 for two separate misbehaviors.

In retaliation, Mourinho launched court proceedings against Galatasaray since he believed the statements relied on his constitutional freedom protections.

The ongoing dispute between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray has risen to unprecedented levels because both teams have become involved in an array of serious controversial incidents.
