Why John Cena Opted Out of Parenthood – WWE Legend’s Candid Explanation
John Cena, an American actor and professional wrestler, recently discussed why he decided against starting a family. In an interview with Club Shay Shay, the 47-year-old talked about his and his wife’s decision to not have children.
“I don’t want kids. I’m 47 now, and I don’t have them,” Cena said. “Everyone asks if I want them, and I have to tell you that it’s not the easiest decision because a lot of why we’re here is to reproduce.” He acknowledged the societal pressure to start a family but pointed out that he has taken a different approach based on his own personality and life aspirations.
“I have a certain curiosity about life, and I also know the investment that parenting requires. My biggest fear is that, as someone who’s driven, often stubborn, and sometimes selfish, I try to approach the world with kindness and curiosity. But I don’t think I’m personally ready—nor will I ever be able—to invest the time needed to be a great parent,” he admitted.
John Cena agreed that it can be difficult to talk about such a private decision. It’s difficult to discuss since it automatically places you in a group, and judgment is in our nature. I would like to think that I go through life with the mindset that everyone is doing the best they can. I’ve given this a lot of consideration since I was 15 or 16 years old.
He continued, “I want to live life to the fullest. I still have a lot to do, and I have a wonderful partner to do it with. We’ve had open conversations about this, and we share the same values.”
