How is Princess Eugenie connected to the Queen and who is she?

Visitors have started to arrive at Westminster Abbey for Queen Elizabeth II’s state burial. The Queen’s sons, daughters, grandchildren, and a few great-grandchildren will be among the royals in attendance.

Princess Eugenie, the younger daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, will also be present. However, who is the Princess and how does she interact with the Queen?

Who is Princess Eugenie?

The second child of the Duke and Duchess of York is Princess Eugenie. She is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and the niece of King Charles III.

She was sixth in line for the British monarchy at birth and is currently eleventh. She is Princess Beatrice’s younger sister and was born on March 23, 1990.

She was the only grandchild of the Queen who was not baptized in the Lily Font and the first royal infant to undergo a public christening. When Elizabeth was six years old, the Duke and Duchess of York got divorced and decided to share custody of their two kids.

In October 2002, the 12-year-old Eugenie underwent back surgery to correct scoliosis, a procedure that saw two 300-millimetre titanium rods inserted in her back. The operation was a success and she was not required to undergo any further surgeries.

Princess Eugenie graduated from Newcastle University in 2012 with a 2:1 degree in English literature and history of art. In 2013, she moved to New York City for one year to work for the online auction firm Paddle8 as a benefit auctions manager. In July 2015, she moved back to London to work for the Hauser & Wirth art gallery as an associate director and was promoted to director in 2017.

Is Princess Eugenie married?

During a ski trip in 2010, Princess Eugenie and brand ambassador Jack Brooksbank fell in love. In 2018, Brooksbank proposed to Eugenie while they were on vacation in Nicaragua.

On October 12, 2018, the ceremony was held in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos of the British fashion house Peter Pilotto created Princess Eugenie’s bridal gown, which was intended to show off her surgical scar.

In order to honor those who assisted her and to encourage those who have scoliosis, Eugenie decided to display her scar. August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, Eugenie’s son, was born in 2021 and is called after his great-grandfather, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

From November 2020 to May 2022, the couple’s main residence was Frogmore Cottage, which was leased to Eugenie’s cousin Prince Harry. In May 2022, it was reported they had moved to Portugal, where Brooksbank works for Michael Meldman, and that they would once again stay at Ivy Cottage while in England.

Princess Eugenie undertakes occasional public engagements, usually connected with the charities she supports, such as the Teenage Cancer Trust and Children in Crisis. In 2020, Eugenie became patron of the Scoliosis Association UK and in June 2021 became an ambassador for the Blue Marine Foundation.

And in June 2022, Eugenie launched the Ocean Advocate Series, which features conversations with ocean advocates and experts on how to preserve the seas and the environment.
