Accra Hearts of Oak shake off slow start to record first win of the season
Continental club masters, Accra Hearts of Oak bounced back to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League over the weekend by beating Bechem United 2-0 at the Legion Sports Stadium.
The Phobians has been under immense pressure this season as they failed to win their two opening games against Basake Holy Stars and Hearts of Lions.
With Fans calling for the sack of head coach Abubakar Ouattara, a win over Bechem United was a must.
Left back Ransford Mensah put the Phobians ahead through a sublime free kick in the first half of the game. With Hearts of Oak in much control of the game in the second half, it was only a matter of time before they got their second goal.
Last season’s club top scorer Hamza Issah gave the Phobians their second goal on the 71st minute on the second half which solidified the win for Accra Hearts of Oak.
Now occupying the 11th position on the league log, Hearts will be playing away to Nations FC in their next league encounter on Sunday, 29th October 2024.
