England scheduled to play Spain in the Euro 2024 final
The second semi-final match of Euro 2024 saw England take on the Netherlands at the BVB Stadium in Dortmund on 10th July 2024.
Coming from the backlash of criticism, Gareth Southgate and the Three Lions of England resulted to a three back of Kyle Walker, John Stones and Marc Guehi.
He fielded Kobbie Mainoo, Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden in midfield with Harry Kane leading the lines.
The Dutch went ahead on the 7th minute through a vicious Xavi Simons strike. A quick counter attack led by the PSG midfielder was ended up at the back of the net as Jordan Pickford failed to stop the 21 year old’s strike.
England was awarded a penalty after Denzel Dumfries brought down Harry Kane in the 18 yard box on the 17th minute. Harry Kane perfectly placed the ball beyond Bart Verbruggen to draw England level on the 18th minute.
The introduction of Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins in the second half of the match saw the Three Lions put a lot of pressure on the Dutch.
A perfectly timed pass from Cole Palmer to Ollie Watkins on the 91st minute was perfectly slotted in as the Aston Villa striker made no mistake with the finish.
After being awarded the man of the match award, Watkins had these to say:
Ollie Watkins: “I swear on my life, my kid’s life, I said to Cole Palmer: we’re coming on today and you’re gonna set me up”.
The Three Lions will face Spain in the final on Sunday, 14th July 2024 at the Olympiastadion. It is believed that it will take a lot for England to beat the Spanish national team but securing two Euro finals in a row, they are expected to find a way.
