Bishop Richard Kuuia Baawobr has received a note from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia congratulating him on his elevation to Cardinal by Pope Francis.
Pope Francis named 21 new cardinals for the Roman Catholic Church, including Bishop Kuuia Baawobr.
After Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson and the late Cardinal Peter Porekuu Dery, he is the third Ghanaian bishop to be elevated to the rank of Cardinal.
In 2016, he was ordained Bishop of the Wa Diocese.
The Vice President took to his official Facebook page a few moments after the “good news”, stating: “This is good news for Ghana and worth celebrating.”
