The Bank of Ghana has redesigned the elements on the One Ghana Cedi coins with advanced security features.
The Bank of Ghana has made an announcement reporting the release of the new coin. The arrival of the new coin into the system takes immediate effect from Monday, December 12, 2022.
According to the statement issued by the authorities, “The coin is similar to the existing GH¢1 coin in shape, form, and images and has the Coat of Arms in front and the Scale of Justice at the back. The upgraded GH¢1 coin is bi-metallic with outer gold and inner silver.”
The coin has a distinctive rough edge and comprises of a latent image, which shows up in a rectangular structure underneath the Scale of Justice at the back.
The enhanced GH¢1 coin is bi-metallic with an external gold surface and inward silver form.
“The coin has a pronounced rough edge and incorporates a latent image, which appears in a rectangular form below the Scale of Justice at the back,” a portion of the statement indicated.
