Meet Brian Mwenda, the trending fake lawyer from Kenya
The Nairobi branch of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has issued an alert, warning the public about an individual who is reportedly impersonating an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in order to defraud unwary customers.
Brian Mwenda has never taken a legal lesson, although he has been in court and is said to have won numerous cases.
Following the incident, the LSK Nairobi office is now inviting the public to report information on people impersonating attorneys.
Authorities seized Brian Mwenda, a false and impostor lawyer who successfully won 26 cases before High Court Judges, Magistrates, and Supreme Court of Appeal Judges.
The Law Society alleges that he falsely portrayed himself as an Advocate of the High Court despite not having a license to practice law in the country.
There are differing opinions on his status, with some suggesting he is a self-trained legal practitioner who should be permitted to sit for bar exams, while others believe he will argue his case in courts again and emerge victorious.
