With Real Madrid winning the UCL and Atalanta also winning the UEL, it was expected that the two teams would battle for supremacy.
With Kylian Mbappe joining the Spanish giants, Los Blancos looked like the favorites with their chances of winning the trophy being only a matter of time. Fans were also expectant to see new signee Kylian Mbappe play for Real Madrid for the first time since joining the club on a free transfer from PSG.
Ancelotti lined up with Courtois, Carvajal, Rudiger, Militao, Mendy, Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham, Rodrygo, Vinicius, and Mbappe whereas Atalanta also started strongly with the likes of Hein, Ademola Lookman, De Roon, Zappacosta, Ederson, and Pasalic all in line to get the team it’s first ever UEFA Super Cup trophy.

Things We Learnt From Real Madrid’s Win Over Atalanta
1. Real Madrid’s midfield with Toni Kross looks just okay.
Toni Kross retired at the end of last season and Madrid decided not to sign any replacement as they felt they would be okay without him. With Valverde, Tchouameni, and Bellingham starting in the midfield for Madrid, they lacked the control and passing accuracy Toni Kross brought to the team but hey this is Real Madrid, and Carlo Ancelotti, they will surely find a way to make things work.
2. Mbappe as a center forward will take some time off to work out.
Real Madrid started the game with the attacking trio of Vinicius, Mbappe, and Rodrygo with Mbappe expected to play as a centre forward. In the course of the game, it was clear that the French captain wasn’t really comfortable as a center forward as he was seen drifting to the left wing mostly during the game.
3. Madrid’s newly formed attacking trio will be unplayable.
Despite Real Madrid fans’ eagerness to see Mbappe make his debut for the club, rival fans were also praying it didn’t happen. The pace, skill set, and decisiveness of Kylian Mbappe make him a danger to any defense he comes up again. With Vinicius and Rodrygo teaming up with the French man up front, defenders and managers will have a lot of thinking to do this season as they seemed unplayable against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final.
4. Jude Bellingham is a workaholic and a generational talent.
Jude Bellingham won the Man of the Match award in the Uefa Super Cup final as he put on a mouthwatering performance against Atalanta. He worked his way through the resilient Atalanta defense to help Mbappe score his first-ever goal for Los Blancos.
5. Real Madrid is the greatest club in the world.
It only takes a team that great to do what Real Madrid has been doing over the years. Their ability to get results when it matters most and also to win trophies makes them the greatest football club that ever existed. Their ability to attract world-class players confirms their status and dominance in world football.
