Zubimendi to join Liverpool for €60m
Liverpool has been in the hunt for an ideal number 6 since the exit of Brazilian midfielder Fabinho. The Reds were hopeful of signing Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia last season only for the two to end up at Chelsea.
Despite the inclusion of Endo from Stuttgart, Liverpool fans still seem unsatisfied as they look to the club for a modern day number 6.
The Reds in recent weeks have been linked with a move for Martin Zubimendi, Manuel Ugarte, Alan Varela and Ederson.
It looks like the Reds and Richard Hughes will be settling on Martin Zubimendi as they look set to trigger his €60m release clause from Real Sociedad.
Real Sociedad on the other hand are resigned to the fact that Liverpool are willing to pay Martin Zubimendi’s €60M release clause and are also willing to double his salary.
Rumours has it that Intermediaries had contacted Martin Zubimendi on behalf of Liverpool and now things have moved on. Liverpool sources confirm that they have indeed received encouragement over a possible deal and are now ‘exploring a deal’ for the 25-year-old.
Local reports out of Spain also indicates that Martin Zubimendi will now decide if he wants to join Liverpool with Real Sociedad increasingly resigned to the fact he’s on his way to Anfield.
Michaels Edwards is also well aware that no club that has shown interest in Martin Zubimendi has managed to convince him but he believes Liverpool Football Club will do it.
Zubimendi is one player almost every coach would love to have in his team and speaking about him, Xavi Alonso had these words to say:
“He’s a player all coaches would want. He’s generous, he always thinks more about his teammates than himself.”
“He has the ability to generate play, to make those around him better, always offering solutions; to improve the move.”
“He understands what the next step is before the ball gets to him. He has that ability to organize the axis. I loved working with him.”
We look forward to the ideal union of Zubimendi, MacAllister and Szoboszlai in the Liverpool midfield as the Reds look to prepare for the upcoming season.
