Joao Felix explains his goal celebration for Barcelona against Atletico

Joao Felix

Sunday’s La Liga match saw Joao Felix score the game-winning goal for Barcelona against Atletico, and he was thrilled to celebrate against his home team.

Joao Felix claimed he just let it all out at Montjuic and that he had no interest in an infamously subdued celebration.

“Only the people close to me know what I have lived,” he said.

“I just let it go, for everything that happened for me and my family. That’s for me and my team-mates and Barca who have welcomed me.”

Felix also talked about his winning goal in the first half and the experience of playing against his old team.

“We knew it was a very important game, a very hard game, it’s never easy against Atletico. It was a very big win for us,” he said.

“Yes of course I had an extra motivation, to see my former team-mates they’ve always helped me. It was a special game but I’m happy with the win.

“I know I received Rapha’s pass and then I think it was the only way to score, to go over Oblak. I was happy with it.”

There’s no doubt it’s a great moment for Felix, although you suspect Atletico fans really won’t want him back after seeing him thoroughly enjoying scoring against Simeone’s side.
