“Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”

The above tweet gets people to feel that he was insensitive to make an analogy of the civil war. Many people criticized the tweet and they subsequently reported it to Twitter which pushed them to delete the post with a comment, “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules”.

Mohammed knocked Twitter for supporting insurrection in Nigeria last October during their massive #EndSARS protests which caused destruction and even took some lives and properties almost all over Nigeria.

Reacting consequently on the statement, the Nigerian minister made it clear that, the Buhari government has suspended all activities of Twitter in Nigeria.

This statement was titled, ‘FG Suspends Twitter’s Operations in Nigeria’, read, “The Federal Government has suspended, indefinitely, the operations of
the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.

“The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, declared the suspension in a proclamation gave in Abuja on Friday, refering to the persevering utilization of the stage for exercises that are fit for sabotaging Nigeria’s corporate presence.

“The Minister said the Federal Government has also directed the National Broadcasting Commission to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.”
