After creating a cutting-edge assistive robot, a University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) senior has won hearts on social media.
The UMaT student, Mintah Frederick, also called Newton, was shown in a video flapping the assistive robot prototype.
The invention is intended to help kids with disabilities eat. A young woman was seen sitting behind the robot as it fed her from a bowl in the video that has gone viral.
With the use of sophisticated sensors and artificial intelligence, the robot—which was created to enhance the lives of kids with disabilities—can recognize and pick up food from a source and feed its users.
“In terms of robotics, when it comes to Ghana, we are doing great, but unfortunately, I don’t see the media doing much. So, in Ghana, we have a lot of skills in this part of development. There are a lot of the youth on the ground working hard, putting stuff together to meet the standard internationally,” he said
Mintah Frederick, a final year student at the University of Mines and Technology, UMaT, has successfully developed a prototype of an assistive robot technology, which is capable of spoon feeding disabled individuals.
