Teacher Threatens Suicide After Losing GHS400K in Forex Trading
After losing more than GHS400,000 in unsuccessful forex trading investments, a teacher in Damongo in the Savannah Region of Ghana is on a suicide mission.
A former Ghanaian Teacher, who was once regarded as generous and always committed to assisting weak students, asserts that his life has gone out of control over the last few years. What began as a promising miscellaneous job has left him impoverished and even emotionally bankrupt.

Talking to locals, the man admitted that he started Forex Trading about 3 to 4 years ago. He was making huge profits in the start, and this boosted his confidence, and he was willing to put more of his savings into the venture.
“I believe I had discovered my breakthrough,” he said with tears. “And so I moved along.“
However, profitability did not persist. When the market swung against him, his losses started accumulating.
In a futile attempt to salvage, he sold his electrical store, leased the premises and threw everything he got in forex. Failure to do that saw him sell personal and even family plots of land in the hope that things would change but this never happened.

He has lost everything now- and even his parents have found out about his selling the family land behind their backs which creates conflict and extreme disappointment at home.
“Everybody views me as somebody who is a disgrace,” he said. “I have lost everything, my shop, my money, my peace of mind. I wonder why am I still here.”
The story has spread like wildfire on social media and many Ghanaians have been shocked and sympathetic. Others are urging mental health experts and local government to intervene and offer the teacher the necessary assistance as soon as possible.
The activists of mental health are encouraging Ghanaians to speak out and no one should be in silence when facing financial pressure.
One counselor wrote, “help is available. Money cannot be equal to any human life.“
With the teacher struggling with remorse and despair, the concerned neighbors and social welfare organizations are apparently giving him a hand to rebuild and heal.
