Dancing With the Stars Announces a Winter Tour

The first episode of the American dancing competition television series Dancing with the Stars aired on ABC on June 1, 2005. It is one of several editions of the Dancing with the Stars franchise and the American adaptation of the UK program Strictly Come Dancing.

In the program, famous people perform with trained dancers. Each pair competes against the other for the judges’ points and the audience’s votes by performing choreographed dances. Each week, until just the winning dance team is left, the couple with the lowest combined score among the judges and the audience is eliminated.

Dancing With the Stars Announces a Winter Tour: It’s a mobile ballroom! On Monday, Dancing With the Stars unveiled a brand-new live tour that will hit 56 cities across the nation early in 2019.

The So You Think You Can Dance champion Alexis Warr will perform on the tour, along with world-famous dancers Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Sasha Farber, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater, and Britt Stewart, according to a press release. Earlier this year, Warr became the first ballroom dancer to win SYTYCD, and soon after, she joined the cast of DWTS.

Beginning on January 6 in Washington, D.C., the tour promises a completely new presentation from its previous live performances.

The fans are the reason why the pros love to perform this tour, they stated in a press release. “Getting to meet the joyful faces of the people who vote for us on the program from home each and every week in-person is such a privilege,” they said.

“We are eager to spread our love of dancing from coast to coast by visiting locations across the nation. We vow to give you a memorable performance whether you’ve made it a practice to attend the concert every year or this is your first opportunity to see us in person.”

DWTS first went on tour in 2007, and has since continued to increase the national reach of its live show lineup, this year reaching almost 30 states. Tickets will go on sale on Oct. 7 at dwtstour.com. Until then, DWTS airs live coast to coast Monday nights 8:00 p.m. ET on Disney+.
