D banj

D Banj, a Nigerian musician, has been taken into custody by the ICPC, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offences Commission.

Dapo Oyebanjo, better known as D’Banj in the music industry, was reportedly detained on suspicion of fraud and other charges.

D’Banj allegedly conspired with some government representatives to embezzle money intended for the government’s N-Power initiative for youth empowerment. According to reports, D’Banj collaborated with government representatives to add phantom beneficiaries to the scheme’s payroll, diverting millions of Naira in the process.

However, it was claimed that the funds taken from the scheme were put into an account connected to D’Banj.

According to an insider, D’Banj has refused to be interrogated by ICPC giving excuses that he traveled oversea and also performed outside the country until a warrant was issued for his arrest by the ICPC anywhere in Nigeria and abroad, forcing him to show up at the commission’s office on Tuesday.

D’Banj has reportedly been denied bail. However, there’s been no official statement from the ICPC spokesman, Azuka Ogugua, or a member of D’banj’s team.
