Ghana football in shutters as the Black Stars fail to win against Angola and Niger
The Black Stars of Ghana have received a lot of backlash from Ghanaians for failing to impress yet again in their AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
Ghana started their campaign at home against The Palancas Negras of Angola on Thursday, 5th September 2024.
Looking at the record of the Black Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Ghanaians were confident of getting a win or a draw from the match.
A hauler from Abdul Mumin gifted Milson a 93rd match-winner for Angola as they ended Ghana’s 24 year old unbeaten run at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
In the quest to redeem themselves, Ghana took on Niger in what was the their second group game at the RS Berkane stadium in Morocco.
With all the records favoring the Black Stars, Ghanaians were optimistic that Thomas Teye Partey and Mohammed Kudus would lead the Stars to victory to get their resurrect their AFCON dreams.
Coach Otto Addo’s men looked like a pale shadow of themselves again as they struggled to create chances in the first half of the game. However, Alidu Seidu put the Stars in front by scoring a screamer right outside the 18 yard box with just a minute left to play in the first half.
Coach Otto Addo looked to be controlling the game in the second half after the introduction of Jordan Ayew, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Elisha Owusu only for them to concede late in the game as Oumar Sako scored to earn Niger a draw in the game.
Ghanaians have taken to Social Media to express their frustration at the attitude of some of the players on the field of play. Some also believe that Coach Otto Addo should be sacked as he is considered not good enough to bring the Stars back to their glory days.
Ghana will be playing against Coach Akwesi Appiah’s Sudan on the 11th and 15th of October respectively.
Ghana now sits third on the table with just a point after two games.
