Anthony Taylor was born on October 20th, 1978. In 2010, he was upgraded to the list of Select Group Referees, who mostly officiate in the Premier League, and in 2013 he became a FIFA listed referee, allowing him to referee European and international matches.

He officiated the Football League Cup final at Wembley Stadium in 2015, which Chelsea won 2-0 against Tottenham Hotspur. Taylor returned to Wembley later that year to oversee Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Community Shield.
He officiated the 2017 and 2020 FA Cup finals between Chelsea and Arsenal, which Arsenal won both times 2-1. When he was chosen, he became the first man since Arthur Kingscott in 1901 to referee a second FA Cup final.
Taylor began officiating in the Northern Premier League in 2002 and advanced to the Conference North in 2004. He was added to the Football League referees’ list at the start of the 2006-07 season, and his first assignment was a 0-0 draw in a League Two match between Wrexham and Peterborough United in August 2006.
In November 2006, he officiated an England under-19s international friendly versus Switzerland under-19s at Gresty Road, Crewe Alexandra’s home ground; England won 3-2.
