Ghana emerged as 3-0 victors over Guinea in the first leg of their Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifier at the Stade General Lasana Conte on Friday evening.

The Black Queens took control of the game instantly, with forward Vivian Adjei Konadu capitalising on a goalkeeping blunder in the 19th minute to put Ghana ahead. The early goal set the tone for an exciting match between the two West African countries.

Ghana continued to dominate the game, and Doris Boaduwa extended their advantage in the 27th minute with a well-placed shot that startled Guinea’s defence.

Throughout the first half, the Black Queens’ unrelenting attack put the Guinean squad on the back foot, leaving them trying to find an answer to Ghana’s offensive ability.

Guinea’s hopes of a comeback were dashed in the 48th minute when Camara Manet received her second yellow card, leading in her expulsion from the game.

Ghana made an instrumental substitution in the 52nd minute, with Mary Amponsah replacing Priscilla Adubea, providing new vigor to their offensive lineup. The substitution paid off as Amponsah produced a wonderfully fitted cross to Evelyn Badu, who brilliantly hooked it into the net to give Ghana their third goal in the 72nd minute.

This vital win has set the ground for an eagerly awaited second leg in Ghana on Tuesday.

The Black Queens will attempt to maintain their momentum in the qualification series as they aim to secure a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
