Some Ho-Bankoe residents are calculating their losses after Saturday’s heavy, intermittent rains swamped stores and houses, ruining commodities and people’s possessions.
Ho-Bankoe Residents have experienced the heavy rain that started at around 3 p.m. on Saturday and persisted for almost four hours causing powerful currents to overflow culverts and bridges, as well as congested highways.
This was especially noticeable in the area of Ho Civic Center.
Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Divine Bosson, has sent his condolences to the people, companies, and organizations impacted by the terrible floods.
In a press statement, the MCE appealed to residents living near large gutters, bridges, and culverts to relocate to higher grounds until the situation returned to normal.
He also called on individuals farming along the waterways, to refrain from that activity.
Mr. Bosson blamed the floods partly on the ceaseless and harmful practice of dumping refuse in gutters by some residents.
He said the assembly, National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and other stakeholders were assessing the damage and would provide prompt updates to the public on the situation.
