Less than a day after he was freed, Bernard Antwi Boasiako known as Chairman Wontumi, was seen at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) headquarters in Accra.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) held Wontumi in custody for nearly a week on fraud and money laundering charges, but on Monday, June 2, 2025, he was granted bail of GH₵50 million after completing his bail conditions.
While the new images of Wontumi on Monday made people concerned, his Tuesday appearance seemed far better. In his white suit, he smiled, spoke to people who came to see him and entertained them by lifting his leg to prove he’s getting better.

Party loyalists cheered him, and he thanked both the grassroots members and the national leadership of the NPP.
“I wanted to come and tell you how thankful I am. May God send you his best. Things will work out just as they should,” Wontumi explained.
He specifically mentioned the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, and commended his leadership during a tough period.
What Next?
Wontumi is now out on bail, but EOCO is still investigating and it is uncertain when or if he might face charges.
