The celebrated Ghanaian dancehall musician and entrepreneur Shatta Wale has teamed up with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), and CEO Malik Basintale officially received him at the agency’s headquarters on Friday, May 30, 2025.
The event kicked off a new partnership designed to give Ghanaian youth better opportunities by using Shatta Wale’s Shaxi platform, which was launched in 2021 to provide low-cost rides and steady employment.
During the visit, Malik Basintale announced that YEA, with help from a private donor, will be giving Shaxi 150 electric vehicles (EVs). As he explained, introducing these vehicles is meant to bring more jobs and also encourage environmentally friendly transportation in Ghana.
“These vehicles are owned by someone private, but I’ve told my team to make sure they get registered with Shaxi as soon as possible.”

The fact that Shaxi now offers EVs is a major achievement for the company, whose name shows its aim to join both Shatta and Taxi. Since the company started, Shaxi has hired numerous drivers who make daily income by offering dependable transportation in Ghana.
He thanked Tigo for the collaboration and assured them he would continue to help the youth in Ghana. He explained, “Empowering the young is what I always hoped for, and this allows them to achieve their best.”
To show his support for Shaxi, Malik Basintale gladly agreed to serve as an unpaid ambassador for the initiative, saying it was something he truly admired.
“I am committed to what Shaxi represents, and I want to take part in this movement because I care about the impact, not the money,” he explained.
The agreement is set to bring hundreds of employment opportunities to people and help the government with its environmental transportation projects. Basintale first mentioned working with Shatta Wale in a post on social media on May 27, and Shatta Wale was quick to show his excitement.
Public service and private innovation are joining forces, and this is an indication of rising youth development in Ghana, where music, entrepreneurship, and policy are coming together for positive changes.
