Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale burst into tears during an episode of TikTok Live when he strongly supported his close associate and godfather, Kofi Boat, who was recently arrested in relation to a 100 million dollar internet fraud plot.
During an emotional live chat on Thursday, June 19, 2025, Shatta Wale responded to the rumours circulating about the beleaguered businessman.
The leader of the SM Movement dispelled the allegations of Kofi Boat being a fraudster, claiming that the businessman was just the victim of a bad business transaction.
“God beware Kofi Boat is no scammer. It was simply a flop of a deal. Who said he will sit behind a computer to defraud a person?” Said Shatta Wale tearfully.
On June 13, Kofi Boat and two others were arrested in an Interpol-FBI joint operation, while he is accused of cybercrime and financial fraud.
The suspects have already been brought to court and are still in custody awaiting possible extradition to the United States.

Appearing to be unsteady, Shatta Wale disclosed the extent to which his friend Rita has impacted him with the legal issues.
He also showed empathy with the wife of Kofi Boat, Madam Joyce and his children by saying that he has not slept well worrying how the arrest will affect her and her children.
“I pity Madam Joyce and her children. This is a sore spot to me,” he said. “People are too ready to judge, but they have not met the man that I know.”
The dancehall star also took a swipe at Ghanaians who had jumped to declare Kofi Boat a scammer yet they did not know the whole story.
He asked the people to give more slack, saying that in some cases even upright businessmen may land in legal entanglements through their ill-chosen partners.
He added, referring to his mansion in Trasacco Valley worth 2.5 million: “I hardly even allow my friends in my house now because just one wrong step and your name is finished.”
As the search progresses, Shatta Wale has urged people to have an open mind and pray justice (not judgment) to his friend.
