During the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) OliveTheBoy expressed sadness because he failed to win the Best New Artiste of the Year category.
The music world predicted that OliveTheBoy would win the Best New Artiste of the Year award because of his popular tracks Good Sin and Asylum.
Unfortunately enough, King Paluta received the Best New Artiste of the Year award instead of OliveTheBoy at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards ceremony.
During his Channel One TV interview on May 3, 2025, OliveTheBoy (also known as Joel Ofori Bonsu) did not suppress his feelings. He admitted to feeling great disappointment yet accepted the situation for what it was.
The defeat of his award nomination has not stopped OliveTheBoy from continuing forward with his musical journey. The young artist OliveTheBoy has received five TGMA nominations in 2025 for Asylum in Popular Song of the Year and Favourite Story featuring King Promise and Sarkodie in Best Collaboration of the Year, which demonstrates his rising success.

He described how the unexpected joint work with King Promise and Sarkodie became a reality. King Promise made the first approach to OliveTheBoy regarding the project. During a concert in 2024 King Promise told OliveTheBoy that he required a quick guest appearance for his album.
OliveTheBoy succeeded in his recording session despite having only a few hours to compose the song. Instead, he rose to the occasion. According to him, the brief timing motivated him to display his talents to the world.
The result? The song Favourite Story enjoys widespread popularity and holds the position of number one on music charts while receiving great acclaim from fans in Ghana and worldwide.
OliveTheBoy’s upbeat perspective alongside his ongoing achievements proves that he exists past awards because he plans to stay.
