To prevent an arrest over the aircraft scandal, NPP leaders gather at Rev. Fordjour’s home.

A crucial group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) leaders gathered outside Accra at Spintex, where Assin South Member of Parliament (MP) Rev. Fordjour lives on April 9, 2025, to stop National Investigations Bureau (NIB) agents from apprehending him.

The public attention soared when Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin joined NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua and National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, together with Director of Communications Richard Ahiagbah, at the residence of Assin South MP Rev. Ntim Fordjour.

The situation erupted after Rev. Fordjour from the Defence Committee of Parliament disclosed information about two planes that arrived in Ghana.

The MP reported that the two planes were suspected of participating in money laundering and illegal drug trafficking activities. The accusations from Fordjour caused widespread political discussion and widespread concern throughout the nation.

From his residence, the MP Afenyo-Markin stated that Reverend should not be used as an example while emphasizing that Fordjour acted as a representative of the Defence Committee.

The minister walks alongside his supporters, and he continues to receive their backing. The growing number of people present seemed to stop NIB officials from executing their planned arrest operation during that particular moment. The figures from the NPP declared Fordjour made truthful statements about the arrest constituting an improper political move.

Rev. Fordjour made his claims during a press briefing at Parliament, and this action has created powerful political conflicts. The official demanded that the government launch an inquiry about the issue while providing clear information to citizens.

Meanwhile, the government representative, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu refuted Fordjour’s statements by noting the aircraft required maintenance while in Ghana due to small operational problems.

As a matter of fact, the political dispute between NPP and NDC has grown more intense since this controversy erupted. Political and security figures added their voices to the situation while more people demanded official investigations and potential legal consequences for Rev. Fordjour.

The public has split opinions about MP Fordjour’s push for investigation, while some people doubt his true intentions.
