As of July 1, 2025, Ghanaians will get more data with their money as the government achieves a significant milestone with the telecommunications firms in the nation.
The BIG announcement by the Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George came in a press conference organized on Tuesday, June 10, in which he indicated that all network operators would be increasing their data bundle allocations.
Hon. George says the changes follow successful negotiations with MTN, Telecel Ghana and AirtelTigo to provide Ghanaians with better value and to enhance digital access.
What to Expect:
All data bundles on AirtelTigo and Telecel Ghana will be increased by 10 percent.
As an example, the GH 400 bundle on AirtelTigo will be increased to 236GB, previously 195GB.
The GH¢400 bundle by Telecel leaps forthwith 90GB to 250GB.
The greatest percentage increase of 15 percent on all bundles will be enjoyed by MTN customers who constitute the highest number of telecom subscribers.
The GH¢399 bundle that provides 214GB that was earlier discontinued will also be reinstated.

George stated that these increases would be at a cost to the networks but he was happy that our engagements were yielding results that would positively impact the Ghanaian people.
The news has been received well on the internet with many users expressing hope that this will help curb the high data prices and poor value.

Past Attempts to Reduce Data Charges
It is not the first intervention by the Ministry of Communications. In April 2025, the government launched cheaper data packages on five major national holidays, such as Independence Day, May Day, and Farmers Day.
Samuel George had originally urged 18 holidays to be covered, but telcos accepted five. Nevertheless, it was a huge victory in the fight to reduce the cost of internet services.
Mobile Money Agents Also To Benefit
In other news, Mobile Money (MoMo) agents have also had their commissions doubled earlier in March 2024, with a new limit of GH 8 on high-value transactions, as the Bank of Ghana continues to reform and help digital finance players.
With Ghana in the process of continually growing its digital economy, the most recent development has been viewed as a major shot in the arm to students, workers, entrepreneurs, as well as content creators.
