There are so many popular superstitions in Asia most especially India where people are marrying trees to improve the compatibility in a conjugal relationship. But in actual facts that do not necessarily protect the tree from getting chopped down.
In most cases around the world, many people get married to trees with the aim of protecting them from getting cut down.
Not long ago, a very beautiful 34-year-old woman made up her mind to “marry” an elder tree in a Park, as a means of raising awareness about a campaign that opposes the construction of a new bypass.
The name of this woman we are talking about is Kate Cunningham from Melling, she successfully “tied the knot” at Rimrose Valley Park in Litherland in the presence of family members and friends, Liverpool Echo reports.
The bypass was proposed by the Highways England through Rimrose Valley and it has been opposed by residents on the grounds that the new road will ruin or destroy a valued green space,

Before the wedding between Kate and the tree, Miss Cunningham told the Echo,
“My boyfriend is very supportive of my decision. He’s even helped make props for the ceremony.”
“My oldest son was initially embarrassed when I told him I was going to do it, but now he has decided to come to the ceremony. It means a lot to him to be there.”
She is not the only one getting married to a tree, many people have done that in the past as well and their motives are to protect them from felling.
Last year, a group of Mexican activists decided to dress as brides and marry trees in order to highlight the illegal lumbering of trees.
As the ceremony continued, the brides were seen hugging their really tall ‘spouses’ and as part of the ritual, they even threw their bouquets after the ceremony.
