His Majesty, King Mswati III of Eswatini, has melted the hearts of many Ghanaians and Africans at large after making a kind-hearted offer during a visit to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
On Friday, June 27, 2025, the King presented each of the 10 emSwati students attending KNUST with an amount of E17,800 (about GHC 10,000 or USD 1,000) each. The scholarship is to assist the students with academic and living costs as they study in a foreign country.
The gift was made when the royal couple were in an emotional exchange with the students. Her Royal Highness Inkhosikati LaMagongo also accompanied His Majesty and took part in a fun dance with the students to mark the occasion.
The occasion was full of glee, solidarity, and pride since traditional music and cultural performances gave it a rich background of the royal visit.
King Mswati also spoke of how he admired the students and he had heard good reports of the students of KNUST in terms of their discipline, hard work and academic achievements.
He urged the students to stay focused and work hard and to be a proud ambassador to the Kingdom of Eswatini in Ghana.
The visit was however much more than a financial move, it was another way to demonstrate just how committed the King is to the empowerment of the Eswatini youth through education.
