Ghana’s national team head coach, Otto Addo, together with his entire technical staff, have gone unpaid for more than six months, according to recent reports.
The German-trained coach has gone without pay for six months, which leaves his team uncertain while creating frustration among its members.
Sporty FM published a report that revealed that Otto Addo led the Black Stars without receiving his salaries, and this nonpayment seems to affect the entire technical team. The salary arrears have reached seven months in total because March was added to the growing backlog while no resolution becomes visible.
Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum disclosed the salary problem to the public in November 2024. During his discussion on Joy FM Asante Twum confirmed that the Ghana national team coaches received delayed payments in addition to Otto Addo.
“The staff salaries remain unpaid since the organization failed to finalize payments for some past months despite facing this situation. The GFA must provide Otto Addo with his past-due payment,” he iterated.
Asante Twum clarified that both Addo and his complete backroom staff were affected by salary delays in his interview.

The coaching staff remained unpaid for a period of three months at that time. The delay in wage payments has exponentially deteriorated since then because the Black Stars’ staff now faces seven months without receiving their income.
The news about seven months of unpaid coaching staff salaries has triggered significant worries among football enthusiasts and the complete sports community because it threatens the Black Stars’ performance quality and team spirit.
Even though technical staff have received changes, the team remains burdened by an ongoing wage problem. At present moment, the GFA maintains silence about the future payment of delayed employee compensation.
