This year, the daughter of the president of the Republic of Ghana, Farida Mahama, daughter of president John Dramani Mahama, made Father’s Day a memorable one when she presented her father with a bouquet of 66 roses, one rose for every year the president has been alive, as well as a personal message that was handwritten by her daughter.
The gestural move has melted hearts on social media, as the ex-first daughter once more demonstrated the close relationship that she has with her father.
The 66 roses were not only about age but also signified honor, admiration, and appreciation of a father who she regards as her twin.
Farida wrote in her hand written note:
“Happy Father’s Day, twin. Continue to shine, smile, and drive the haters crazy. Love you, my one in one.”
She melted a lot of people’s hearts, particularly when she said ‘1 / 1’, which means a very unique person, a once-in-a-lifetime person.
The note and the gift have taken the internet by storm, with lots of people commending Farida on her thoughtfulness and the integrity of the father-daughter duo.
Farida and her father have always shown their close relationship in previous appearances during official state events or in family situations.

Fast forward to May 1, 2025: Farida was spotted at the inauguration of the Black Star Experience at the Black Star Square in Accra with her father and brothers and looking ever so proud.
She went to the front with her dad, even to the Northern Regions in a Toyota Highlander, where they were spotted waving at gleeful people just after the NDC won in the 2024 general elections.
There was even a sentimental picture in that journey where Farida laid her head against the shoulders of her father—one more of the huggable moments that the father and daughter interactions were in.
Ghanaians on social media were quick to respond, with most of them loving the gesture and defending the reference to the haters in her note as being genuine and open.
Be it politics or life, the Father’s Day tribute by Farida Mahama makes us realize the strength of family and how a simple yet genuine gift of love can never be forgotten.
