Ghanaian media personality Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum, better known as Afua Asantewaa Singathon has caused a stir on online discourse after she shared the challenges of her long-distance marriage.
Now settled in the United States with her three children, Afua posted a very honest message on Instagram on Tuesday, June 10, in which she acknowledged that long-distance relationships were far more difficult than she had imagined.
The event planner and influencer, who is the wife of Ghanaian sports journalist Kofi Aduonum, had previously thought that long-distance love was easy enough—but now, her reality has made her think otherwise.
In her video, she said, “I thought long-distance relationships were easy at first. I would say the same things, but now I know how hard it is. It is not my thing.”
Afua pointed out that the distance between her and her husband has had a strain on their relationship. She cited absence of physical presence, daily contact and absence of public demonstrations of affection as some of the key challenges.
Her comments have already become viral and this has left fans wondering whether all is not well in her marriage.

Afua has even been confronted by some well-meaning followers who feel she should consider relocating back to Ghana in order to salvage her marriage.

Over the past few months, Afua made headlines due to her daring fashion statements, fitness inspirational story, and unsuccessful attempts at entering the Guinness World Records by singing. Once again, the focus is on her personal life.
