Afia Schwarzenegger has celebrated on social media the news that New Patriotic Party (NPP) politician, Chairman Wontumi, has been arrested and detained.
In a video she posted on Instagram, Afia is wearing fake tears as she sarcastically mourns Wontumi’s misfortune. Even as she pretended sadness, she was clearly laughing at the regional chairman about his law enforcement issues.
Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who is also Chairman Wontumi, was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after he went to the Police CID Headquarters in Accra on Tuesday. After several hours of questioning, he is said to have become ill and was taken to a hospital.
This recent event has only increased the tension between Afia Schwarzenegger and Wontumi. They have disagreed before, mostly after Afia said on UTV that she and Wontumi were in a romantic relationship.
He then sued her over accusations he felt were false and defamatory. Afterwards, the court penalized UTV panelists, including A Plus, and issued a warrant for Afia’s arrest for contempt.
In the video, Afia thanked EOCO and added that A Plus, who is now a member of Parliament, was also grateful to John Mahama.
“Resetting papapaa. There is a chance it can happen.”

People who supported the NPP made their voices heard as well. People led by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong and former MP Titus Glover assembled outside EOCO, calling for Wontumi to be set free.
Those who commented online reacted quickly and had different opinions. While some thought Afia was making fun of someone she once talked about loving, others laughed at her actions.
A user on Instagram said, “Sister Afia, I’m afraid you’re not eligible for heaven.” Another user wrote, “That’s just adding more fuel to the burn.”
The situation between Afia Schwarzenegger and Chairman Wontumi is still going strong as their dispute plays out largely on social media.
