One of the most famous nightclubs in Accra is closing its last night. Garage Lounge, a high-end nightclub in East Legon, will be closing down its doors this Sunday, the 29th of June, 2025, thus bringing an end to a lively 5 1/2 years of the nightclub.
The news was revealed through an emotional Instagram message on Thursday, June 19, with the management expressing its gratitude to patrons, performers, and staff for their endless contributions throughout the years.
The statement continued, saying, What began as a daring concept became a movement… a space that brought to life Accra through music, flavor, culture, and memories that are not quickly forgotten.
Garage Lounge was renowned to be the most electrifying nightclub that boasted of high-energy music and an upscale crowd, which made it the epicenter of contemporary nightlife in Ghana.
It did not matter whether it was a normal weekend rave or a party hosted by a celebrity; the club was always full of a large number of people, which made it a cultural center in a city.
It was a community, more than the flashing lights and the booming speakers, that Garage Lounge brought to the people. It was the destination of young, talented businesspeople, artists, and partygoers who all met there and enjoyed life.
It contributed to the development of urban entertainment in Ghana, leaving an unforgettable trace over the years.

Although there was no particular explanation as to why the place is being closed down, the sound was obvious: this is not exactly an end, but the shutdown of a chapter. The management hinted that this was not the final good bye. It is only the final of this chapter.
In a final gratitude gesture, the club has invited all its previous and current guests to come back to it on June 29 to enjoy one last memorable evening guaranteed to be worth the legacy of Garage.
Many fans were devastated by the news that resulted in an emotional outburst in the social media. Instagram messages were either nostalgic or tearful.
One of the users posted, Sooooo many memories here. It was my place and everybody knew that. I am broken-hearted 💔.” Another said, I am so glad I got a chance to visit Garage, some of the best nights were spent there.
The days are numbered down to the last night of Garage Lounge but one thing is sure, the night life of Accra will never be the same again.
