The IGP and the Director-General of the CID were full of joy as they celebrated with Police Ladies Football Club after they won the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title.

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, Police Ladies came out on top after a close match with Ampem Darkoa Ladies, who were the defending champions.

The lone goal was scored in the 27th minute when forward Jane Ayieyam made a goal after the team kept attacking for a while. Her goal at the end of the game showed how well Police Ladies controlled the match and put pressure on the opposition, resulting in several errors.

Meanwhile, it wasn’t only their great plays that people noticed.

Their feeling of excitement was a rare example of solidarity between the Ghana Police Service and the sports wing, proving why supporting women’s football is necessary.

It represented more than winning the league; it also highlighted feelings of pride, support and steps forward in women’s sports.

Now that the Police Ladies have won, they will represent Ghana in the CAF Women’s Champions League, giving them the chance to compete on the continental level.

Besides the sports aspect, the win is getting attention for uniting political and sports figures in one glorious moment.
