The Guinness World Record hopeful and Ghanaian entrepreneur Afua Asantewaa released a strong message which addressed critics who doubted her character after her attempted world record sing-a-thon.
Afua released an April 20, 2025, video on her Instagram page that strongly condemned criticisms that emerged from her government support allegations during the sing-a-thon.
“I have been devoting my prayers to the people who seek my downfall,” she stated with determination that God would take action against the people spreading unfounded accusations.
The dispute developed because Afua denied receiving cars and an apartment as gifts from the former government, although some people have made such claims.
Afua dedicated all her attention to singing during her record attempt because she did not have time for any deals.

“The performance duration should have prevented me from accepting any gifts during my show. My purpose at the interview was to defend myself alone,” she explained that she was referring to her personal situation, but she showed her frustration with the misinterpretation.
According to Afua, people judged her too hastily because they failed to grasp her situation or her reasons. She later emphasized that the criticism aimed at her husband does not affect her message, which comes from her personal story.
The rumour mill started spinning around her gifts following her Nana Romeo interview on March 13, 2025. Afua explicitly mentioned at the sing-a-thon that the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, gave her medicine for her sore throat as her only benefit.
The controversy has not shaken Afua from her path. Her message states that her mission was unblemished, so anyone who wishes to see her downfall will receive divine punishment instead of her own.
