PSG Wins Their 10th Ligue 1 Title With Lionel Messi

Paris Saint-Germain over the weekend drew against Lens but won a record-tying eighth Ligue 1 title, Corentin Jean canceled out what appeared to be Lionel Messi’s goal late in the game.

In a cagey first half, the hosts had plenty of chances, but Jean-Louis Leca was up to the task. Lens was especially dangerous on the break, with Séko Fofana, a muscular midfielder, at the helm, pushing his team forward.

Lens’ excellent defense continued in the second half after receiving a second yellow card at the hour mark, when center-back Kevin Danso was sent off after tackling Neymar from behind in front of the penalty area.

As his team battled to find a way through, Lionel Messi came up with a fantastic goal-scoring move. Neymar found himself in space on the edge of the box and unleashed a shot into the roof of the net, beating Lens goalkeeper Jean-Louis Leca, who had been in command up to that moment.

The ultras sat silently in protest against the club’s higher administration and the players, regardless of the occasion, as they have done since the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

When Mauricio Pochettino’s name and starting lineup were announced, the fans booed, although none of the players were booed. The overall atmosphere was very muted, with the exception of a few odd bursts of chanting from various parts of the stadium.

After 75 minutes, many Virage Auteuil ultras dispersed outside to celebrate the title as part of a pre-planned rally.

Thanks to Corentin Jean’s late goal at the back post, Lens gained a well-deserved point, and their entire performance reflected their recent record, which has put them in contention for European participation next season.
