André Dede Ayew, the captain of the Ghana Black Stars on Friday, January 14, 2022, set a new African Cup Of Nations (Afcon) record after the Ghana-Gabon encounter.

André Dede Ayew becomes Ghana’s all-time top scorer at the African Cup Of Nations (Afcon) in the year 2019. He also became the first Ghanaian to score 10 Africa Cup of Nations goals, as he netted a superb strike against The Panthers of Gabon.

Dede Ayew, who is the second-born son of Abedi Ayew “Pele” (the three-time African Footballer of the Year; and FIFA 100 member), also became the fourth African player to score in a record six different Afcons, matching legendary attackers Samuel Eto’o, Kalusha Bwalya and Asamoah Gyan.

The Qatar-based forward, who has so far scored 23 goals for Ghana, made his Black Stars captain debut in the year 2007; and has since played 102 games for Ghana (seven games behind the current record holder Asamoah Gyan).

André Morgan Rami Ayew is a Ghanaian professional footballer, born on December 17, 1989. He is a winger who plays for Qatar Stars League club Al Sadd, and captains the Ghana national team.

He started his football career in Ghana, playing for Nania football Club while debuting for the club at age 14. In 2005, he signed with his father’s former club, Marseille, and spent two seasons in the club’s youth academy before making his debut in the 2007–08 season. Ayew spent the following two seasons on loan with Lorient and Arles-Avignon, helping the latter team earn promotion to Ligue 1 for the first time.

In the year 2010, Ayew returned to Marseille…becoming an integral part of the first team under manager Didier Deschamps, making over 200 appearances and winning consecutive Trophée des Champions and Coupe de la Ligues in both 2010 and 2011.

Ayew has been a full international player for Ghana since the year 2008 and has earned over 100 caps. At the youth level, he starred for and captained the under-20 team that won both the 2009 African Youth Championship and the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He has played in two FIFA World Cups (2010 and 2014), as well as seven Africa Cup of Nations (2008, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021), helping them finish runners-up in 2010 and 2015, and was top goalscorer at the latter tournament.

André Dede Ayew is the second son of three-time African Footballer of the Year; and the FIFA 100 member Abedi “Pele” Ayew. Dede has two brothers, Ibrahim Ayew and Jordan Ayew, who also are professional footballers.

In 2011 Dede was named the BBC African Footballer of the Year, and the Ghanaian Footballer of the Year.

The Black Stars of Ghana, on 10 January, had their first encounter with The Atlas Lions of Morocco, in the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon, and lost by 1 goal to nail. Their next Group C match will be against Comoros on Tuesday, January 18, at the Roumde Adjia Stadium-Garoua at 7 pm local time.

Is there any hope for the Black Stars of Ghana against Comoros?
