The capital city of Nigeria, Abuja has witnessed a horrifying case of child abu:se, and domestic sl@very concerning an internally displaced 14-year-old girl named Bashariya.
Bashariya was originally from Zamfara, she and her family had escaped v!olent att@cks and took refuge in an IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camp close to Gwiwa Eka.
With the hope of getting a better life, she was handed over to Fauziya, the wife of Barrister Abubakar Zaki, a serving judge in Sokoto State, believing that she would be employed as a domestic helper.
However, Bashariya did not get care and support but horr!fic treatment.

Reports and a viral social media video showed that Fauziya is accused of burn!ng the young girl with fire, denying her food, and be@music-zone.
This mistreatment went on until June 2, when Bashariya was eventually given back to her parents in serious condition; she was malnourished, physically b@ttered and emotionally devastated.
One of the neighbours, who assisted in providing her with emergency treatment, said:
“It is a girl who had already escaped with her life. She had a right to be safe. She was tortured instead.”
Worse still, Fauziya is said to have threatened the parents of the girl against reporting the matter, apparently saying that her husband was powerful and nothing would happen to her.

Outcry among the People Grows.
The case has stirred up a lot of anger in Nigeria with social media users, rights groups, and other concerned citizens calling on the immediate prosecution and justice in the case of Bashariya.
People are demanding the arrest of Fauziya, and investigation into the complicity or cover-up by the judge.
The video is graphic, so most platforms have not reposted it publicly, although clips of it have gone viral on TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram, prompting a national conversation about child labor and elite impunity, as well as the protection of IDP children.
No formal charges have been declared as yet, and the Zaki family has not yet made any official statement addressing the allegations.
