Who is Cooper Manning: in addition to being a popular television personality and the anchor of “The Manning Hour” on Fox Sports, Cooper Manning is a successful businessman who also had a bright future as an American football player.
Cooper’s wide receiver career, however, was cut short before he could play in the National Football League due to an untimely illness (NFL). As a descendant of famous player Archie Manning, Cooper comes from a family with a long history and depth in the sport.
Early life and family
Cooper was born on March 6, 1974 to parents Archie and Olivia Manning, so he is 46 years old. Archie was a professional American football quarterback, who played for the New Orleans Saints from the early 70s through the 80s.
Cooper is the eldest son of Archie and the brother of two professional players Eli and Peyton Manning. Cooper was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, where he graduated from high school before moving to Mississippi to attend college. While at Newman High School, Cooper participated in American football, playing as a wide receiver.
Meanwhile, he was a bright prospect with a bright future, and so was accepted into the University of Mississippi, like his father before him. However, at the age of 18, shortly before the start of summer training, Cooper was experiencing numbness in his toes and fingers, and after a visit to the Mayo Clinic, Cooper was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, a condition that causes the spine to shrink and damage the nerves surrounding the spine. This caused Cooper to retire early from football and, through physical rehabilitation, he had to learn to walk again.
Cooper completed his degree in broadcast journalism at the University of Mississippi, which appears to be a Manning family tradition, as Archie and Cooper’s two brothers graduated from the same schools.
Although he did not have a professional American football star, Cooper nevertheless had a successful life as a businessman, television personality and comedian. His career began as a partner in the energy group Scotia Howard Weil which held interests in oil and gas.
The group has also organized energy conferences which have attracted investors and a large number of companies to their offices located in Houston and New Orleans.
In 2012, Cooper began his career in sports journalism, when in the run-up to Super Bowl XLVII (47th), he hosted a segment on The Dan Patrick Show – “Manning on the Street.” In 2015 Cooper became part of the Fox NFL Kickoff crew, and also launched his own show, “The Manning Hour”, the same year.
In 2016, Cooper was selected as Senior Managing Director of Investor Relations for AJ Capital Partners. They are specifically building a portfolio of hotels and resorts as a private real estate company based in Chicago, Illinois.
