With three Grammy nominations for the 67th ceremony, Nigerian R&B artist Tems has created history.
With nominations for Best African Music Performance, Best Global Album, and Best R&B Song, Tems is the most nominated Nigerian artist this year.
Given that her debut album, “Born In The Wild,” won a Grammy for Best Global Album, Tems is also the first female Nigerian artist to have an album nominated for a Grammy.
With her single “Burning,” Tems becomes the first African artist to receive a nomination in the R&B category.
She is the first African female lead artist to be nominated outside of global categories as a result of this accomplishment.
With six nominations, she now holds the record for the most Grammys by a Nigerian woman.
She is the second Nigerian to receive the most nominations in a Grammy year with three at the 67th Grammys, after Burna Boy, who received four at the 66th Grammys.
In other news, a Nigerian woman has gone viral on the internet after witnessing an eyelash-covered car in Lagos and sharing a video of it.
She responded to the strange scene by captioning her TikTok video, “Nothing I haven’t seen in this Lagos.”
She says, “Just imagine trying to describe this car to someone: ‘Bro, I saw a car with eyelashes—eyelashes on top of the car!”
Her video gained a lot of attention fast, and many viewers rushed to the comments to express their thoughts.
