The eligible nominees for the 65th Annual Grammy Awards have been released, and Ghana’s eminent musician, Rocky Dawuni, is included among the curated list of artistes competing for the prestigious award yet again.
Selected for ‘Best Global Music Performance’ at this year’s Grammy Awards, is this Ghanaian musician who performs Afrobeat, Highlife, and Soul music in his melody “Neva Bow Down,” which likewise includes Blvk H3ro.
Alongside ‘Udhero Na’, ‘Arooj Aftab’, and ‘Anoushka Shankar’, he has been selected for a Grammy. ‘Bayethe’ by Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode; ‘Gimme Love’ by Matt B and Swirl Kenzo; “Last Last” by Burna Boy, are all music projects nominated for the award ceremony.
His CD, ‘Voice of Bunbon Vol. 1’, was chosen for a Grammy in the classification of ‘Best Global Music Album’ last year.
He was contending with Nigerian musician Wizkid, whose ‘Made In Lagos’ music project likewise gained him a nomination.
There are various musicians like Daniel Ho and Friends, Angelique Kidjo, Femi Kuti, and Made Kuti under the Global Album Music section.
The Ghanaian entertainer had his 6th studio album collection, named ‘Branches of the Same Tree”, chosen for a Grammy in 2015 for Best Reggae Album.
The composer of ‘Black Star’ turned into the first Ghanaian to get a Grammy nomination with this unique honor.
