Paris Saint-Germain after a dramatic penalty shootout have booked their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. In a nail-biting clash, both sides fought fiercely, but neither could break the deadlock over two legs. PSG came out victorious after the penalty shootout at Anfield. However, PSG will go into the first leg of the Champions League quarter finals without their captain.
Going to Anfield with a goal down was going to be difficult for Paris Saint-Germain to pick up a qualification into the next round of the Champions League. However, the intensive game at Anfield resulted in a PSG win. This victory was not enough for qualification as aggregate score showed 1-1 (Harvey Elliott’s magic in the first leg and Ousmane Dembele’s goal in the second leg).

The game went into extra time and then into penalties where Gianluigi Donnarumma continued his good day and came up as the hero after stoping Darwin Nunez’s and Curtis Jones’s penalties. Paris Saint-Germain qualified to the quarter finals on penalties.
However, PSG now face an unexpected hurdle that could shake their European ambitions. Their experienced captain, Marquinhos will miss the first leg of the quarter final as they face Aston Villa or Club Brugge. The Brazilian will miss the game because of his foul on Luis Diaz in the 46th minute of the game. PSG’s resilience at Anfield secured their qualification into the quarter-finals but their joy is tempered by this major setback.
