Nigeria fined $154,128.75 by FIFA after failing to qualify for the world cup

Nigeria has been hit with a fine of $154,128.75 by football governing body FIFA

Ghana and Nigeria are known to be cousins who fiercely compete for superiority in everything.

There have been competitions between them in music, movie, football and even jollof. Their rivalry was renewed when they met for the play off qualifier for the FIFA world cup in Qatar later this year.

The first league of that encounter took place at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Ghana where it ended in a goalless draw. Nigerians were very confident about beating Ghana in Abuja only for them to draw one all with the black stars of Ghana. The black stars then qualified ahead of the super eagles based on the away goal rule.

This sparked anger among the Nigerians and most of them rushed to the field after the final whistle. A lot of the facilities at the stadium were destroyed. Upon this, FIFA has decided to fine NFF for such act.

FIFA has imposed a fine of about $154,128.75 on Nigeria following the unsporting behaviour of their fans at the Moshood Abiola Stadium after the Super Eagles lost their 2022 World Cup spot to the Black Stars of Ghana.
